Upon receipt of your donation, all donors will be provided with a letter via email noting specific donation amounts that can be used for tax purposes. The Courage Conquering Cancer, Non-Profit, Angel Gifts has no paid employees and the majority of donations will be used toward our annual goal of donating 500 shirts to patients in need. Only a small portion of donations will be used to offset operational (shipping charges/supplies) costs. We will help patients who have been identified as in need. In our first year, we have set an initial goal to provide at least 500 Recovery Tees to patients who are in financial need. Donate today and help cancer patients become cancer survivors.

How do I make a donation?

There are several ways you can help. Recovery Tees can be donated for $20 per shirt to patients in financial need which will help our nonprofit reach our goal of donating 500 shirts in our first year of operation. The other option is to give a monetary donation of any size to help supply products (mastectomy pillows, chemo bags, blankets, etc.) for our Angel Gifts of Recovery Program to patients in need as well as breast health outreach efforts, patient education and/or breast cancer advocate opportunities.

Who do we want to help?

Our target population is all surgery patients undergoing treatment for cancer, heart disease, and/ or other health related issues. The Recovery Tee (patent pending) is for all surgical patients requiring drain management to promote healing, reduce suffering and improve outcomes during recovery.

Why would a patient need a Recovery Tee?

The Recovery Tee will aid in post-operative recovery by allowing easy access and safe containment of your drains inside the four internal pockets without the use of safety pins or clips. It can be worn during rest, activities, physician follow-up appointments, chemotherapy, radiation, x-rays (it has plastic snap buttons), diagnostic testing, and other. It facilitates wound care during the recovery period. The shirt design was created by a breast cancer survivor, in consultation with a surgeon and team of experts, for recovery after breast surgeries: mastectomy, lumpectomy, reduction, and/or reconstruction. It was tested by breast cancer post-operative mastectomy patients to ensure that its features foster recovery after surgery. Following a mastectomy or other surgery, patients are discharged with one or more drains coming from the surgical incision site. Although, these drains are uncomfortable and inconvenient these encourage healing and recovery by preventing blood and lymphatic fluid buildup under your skin. The internal pocket dimensions were carefully selected, in consultation with a surgeon, to adequately accommodate multiple drains after surgery. The shirt will accommodate the maximum amount of drains and fluid that most patients would have during the post-operative period and will allow the patient to securely maintain these during recovery. The shirt offers security (no dangling drains), comfort and modesty as you heal. The pockets reduce and/or eliminate the need for safety pins and/or clips.

How can a patient in financial need obtain a Recovery Tee?

Patients needing a Recovery Tee who have exhausted financial resources should contact their health care provider, patient navigators or social workers to provide the necessary referrals to Courage to Conquer Cancer. Courage to Conquer Cancer through its non-profit entity will provide Recovery Tees to patients in need of financial assistance free of charge (as funds/shirt are available), upon referral by medical personnel. For every $20.00 donation, the Courage to Conquer Cancer non-profit will donate a shirt to a patient identified as in need by a health care professional.
